Chakras

In recent years there has been an increased interest in complementary medicine and this has led to a much deeper understanding of how the energy body functions and how the life force energy flows through it.

Chakras are a part of this subtle energy system - spinning wheels of life force energy, each resonating at different frequencies, corresponding to the colours of the rainbow.

The seven main chakras are found along the midline - the spinal column or 'sushumna' and while anatomically undetectable, they are metaphysically linked with the other systems of the physical body - forming a bridge between the visible physical body, the spinal cord, autonomic nervous system, endocrine system and the subtle energy body - the 'aura'.

The chakra system is finely balanced and can easily become unbalanced by various stresses such as illness, tension, pressure, pollution, negative thoughts and trauma - causing them to disfunction by being too open or closed ( or even completely shut down) vibrating too slowly or quickly and being out of synch with the other chakras. Eventually this imbalance shows up as a physical or mental symptom.

There are many ways to re-balance the chakras using energy medicine, crystals, sound, toning, colour, yoga, visualisation and breathing.
